Obituary of Roswell Robert Nelson McPherson

Peacefully, with family at his side, on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Strathmere Lodge, Strathroy, Ontario, Roswell Robert Nelson McPherson, of Strathroy, passed away in his 90th year.

 

Beloved husband of the late Marilyn Elaine McPherson (née Blanchard)(2018). Loving father of Carolyn McPherson of London and David (Peggy) McPherson of Dorchester. Cherished grandfather of Brittany (Craig) Browne, Natilee (Ben) McPherson, Catherine (Nick) Olcsvary, Julie (Will) Waines and “Gpa” to Isla, Winnie & Marigold Browne, Skylar & Jaxon Waines-Hewitt and Julius Waines. Predeceased by his brother Ralph McPherson and sisters Myrna Beamer and Marlene Comfort. He will be missed by his brother Ray (Melaine) McPherson and many, nieces, nephews and friends.

 

Roswell started his working life as a farmer, he went on to work for over 30 years at Superior Propane as a service technician until his retirement. Following his retirement, he started his favourite job of driving the big tractors for Cuddy Farms during planting and harvest. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, Strathroy, singing in the choir and acting as treasurer and deacon for many years. Roswell sang baritone in the Strathroy chapter of the Barber Shop and in many award-winning quartets. Roswell spent his golden years with the love of his life Marilyn camping across Canada in the summer and cross-country skiing in the winter. Roswell will be fondly remembered by all those who knew him.

 

Cremation has taken place.

 

A graveside interment of ashes will take place in Lanes Cemetery, 4459 Twenty Mile Rd., Saint Anns, Ontario at a later date.

 

Those who wish may make memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society (Southwest Partners) or Diabetes Canada in memory of Roswell.
