Obituary of Carole Nolan

Nolan, Carole (Tucker)

 (July 29, 1940 - March 23, 2024)

Carole Nolan had a peaceful transition when she passed away on 23 March 2024 at 11 minutes and 30 seconds after 5 p.m. She was a proud Newfoundlander and was close to her family and never forgot her roots though she had come to London, Ontario in 1966 and made the Forest City her home with periodic returns to Newfoundland.

Carole was born in St. Phillips, Newfoundland on July 29 1940 to Gerald Tucker and Gladys Tucker (Squires). She spent part of her early life in Deer Lake with the family before their later move to St. Phillips which is about 25 minutes from downtown St. John’s.

In London, Ontario, Carole held positions at the Hotel London in accounting and the London office of the Ontario Hospital Insurance Plan (OHIP) as a claims clerk. She was most thorough in dealing with numbers and balancing accounts. At both places, she was to cultivate relationships with colleagues who became close friends.

Carole knew several people who would be described as close friends both in her work and beyond. She had a sense of proportion about life in general and was able to give people candid and meaningful assessments, with humour, about situations that could be troubling or uneven in their lives. Her large brown eyes, vivid smile and warm personality could not help but have people turn to her.

Carole was predeceased by her mother and father, her brother, Gerald Tucker, and sisters Myrtle Burry and Patricia Tucker. She leaves behind her husband, Michael, brothers Burnell (London, England), Norman (Gander, Newfoundland), Frederick (Toronto, Ontario),

and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Cremation has already taken place.

Special thanks to her niece Gillian Collins for the warm care offered to Carole in her final days, to the Victorian Order of Nurses palliative care team and to Dr. Ed Stack. Carole was in good hands and at peace to the end.
