Peacefully, on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, Demetre (Jim) Skikos passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Demetre was born 87 years ago in Argos, Greece, to Eleni and George Skikos. He is predeceased recently by his sister Vassiliki. He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years Katina, his four children: Helene, Anargyros, Gina, George and his nine grandchildren: Kelly, Katie, Niko, Ben, Rachael, Peter, Chryssie, Cassandra and Gabriel. He will be missed also by son and daughters-in-laws: Spyros, Lisa and Chrysanthe.
Demetre was a dashing and adventurous man who came to Canada from Greece at the age of 33 with his young family and a few years later also brought over Katina’s brother and sister. Arriving in London with empty pockets but full of dreams, he soon bought a restaurant which supported the whole extended family. He achieved his ambition in providing a better future for his children and sustained them and his young brother-in-law to complete higher education degrees. Demetre will be remembered for his passion for life, love for family and loyalty to friends.
A private family service has taken place at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of London. In lieu of flowers, donations to London Cross Cultural Centre for helping other immigrants to Canada fulfil their dreams, would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas Street, London, Ontario (519-433-6181). Online condolences can be expressed at www.loganfh.ca
