Peacefully, at Parkwood Institute on Friday, January 24, 2020, Samuel McKelvie passed away at the age of 98.
Beloved husband of the late Marian Irene McKelvie (née Cathcart). Loving father of Dr. Robert (Brenda) McKelvie of Burlington and Susan (Jonathan) Knights of Buckhorn. Dear grandfather of Samantha (Benjamin) Dyck, Shannon (Scott) Wevers, Cody and Graeme. Great-grandfather of Michael and Matthew of Alberta, and Nathan and Emily of Ajax. Forever in the hearts of many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Predeceased by brothers Jack and Jim.
Samuel served in WWII as a pilot in the RCAF flying Lancaster planes based out of England. Upon returning from the war, Samuel spent the majority of his career at Ontario Hydro where he worked for over 35 years. Samuel and his wife Marian were proud to call London home and remained in the city for the remaining years of their lives. Samuel will be fondly remembered for the love he had for his family and took great pride in supporting his children and grandchildren in each one of their endeavors.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Parkwood Institute for all their outstanding, compassionate care and support.
Cremation has taken place.
the COVID-19 pandemic, the Celebration of Life for Samuel McKelvie
will be held at a later date.
Interment of ashes in Woodland Cemetery, London, Ontario.
Those who wish may make memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation in memory of Samuel McKelvie.
