Shirley Margaret O'Neil (nee Sinclair)
May 4, 1947 - September 8, 2017
It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley O’Neil announce her peaceful passing on Friday, September 8, 2017.
Born in London to Mary and Archie Sinclair, she was the beloved sister of David (Cathy) Moore, Gordon (Sandra) Sinclair, and the late George (Kathryn) Moore. Shirley began her teaching career in the late 1960s as Miss Sinclair, and after later completing a degree in French, taught for over 20 years with the London District Catholic School Board as Madame O'Neil. Her greatest source of pride was her four children: Kevin (Mia), Erin (Tom), Meredith (Keny), and Andy (Naomi). As "Grandma O", she will be missed by her seven grandchildren: Donovan, Colton, Keeley, Leilah, Eleanor, Maggie, and Anika.
She is survived by her partner of 25 years, Dave Monteith, who was by her side during her 5-year battle with cancer. She also leaves behind many friends with whom she enjoyed lunches, concerts and art galleries in her retirement.
A funeral service to honour Shirley’s life will be held on Friday, September 15th at Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas St., London, ON. Visitation will be from 1:00pm-2:00pm followed by a service from 2:00pm-3:00pm.
Memorial donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice in London, ON.
You have touched the lives of so many, Shirley.
